# Drones

Every robot is accompanied by its drone, playing a pivotal role in gameplay strategies and mechanics.

* **Deployment:** The drone must be placed on the map during the first phase of the first turn of a match.
* **Terrain Exploration:** Drones are utilized for revealing terrain during a duel, aiding in strategic positioning and planning.
* **Blocking Path:** A drone can block the path of an opponent, potentially strategizing movement and positioning. However, it does not block the path for its owner (the robot), allowing free movement.
* **Attack Interception:** A drone is capable of blocking one attack from an opponent, serving as a shield in critical moments. It does not intercept attacks from its owner.
* **Vulnerability:** Drones can be destroyed by traps set on the battlefield or directly by an opponent's attack.
* **Permanent Destruction:** Once destroyed, a drone cannot return to the same duel, making its preservation vital for sustained advantage.
* **Special Skill:** Each drone possesses a unique skill that automatically marks an opponent with a flare, highlighting their position and making them easier to target.

Drones add a layer of depth and tactical nuance to RoboHero, encouraging players to think creatively about how to use their drone effectively in conjunction with their robot's abilities.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://robohero.gitbook.io/robohero-wiki/command-center/gameplay/drones.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
